John Radin, deceased
Dr. John Radin, Plant Physiology and Cotton Production National Program Leader at United States Department of Agriculture, passed away January 24, 2007, from an aggressive form of leukemia. John was a world authority on the growth of cotton in areas with limited water access. His research was especially valuable in obtaining the highest yield from watering at specific times during the growth cycle.

Not sure if she was in our class, but here is obituary. VANDENBURG -- Katherine Lewis Vandenburg - Born in Kansas City, MO on September 17, 1944, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2008. She is preceded in death by her parents Francis A. (Bud) Lewis and Velma Gallagher; and is survived by Patricia Martin-Lewis and husband Bob Martin, Charles W. Lewis and wife Janet Lewis, John F. Lewis and wife. Alexis Lewis, and Susan E. Lewis all of Albuquerque, NM, along with her children David Lewis Vandenburg and Kellyn Suzanne Vandenburg and her very special pet dog Dingo. Katherine attended Highland High School in Albuquerque, NM and the University of New Mexico, graduating with a degree in education from the University of Texas El Paso. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority at the University of New Mexico and a sustaining member of the Junior League of El Paso. She was a partner with Komen for the Cure and had been involved with the charitable cancer organization over the past dozen years. She taught third grade elementary and computer skills for grades first through fifth the last four years of her almost twenty year teaching career in teaching in El Paso. She will be missed greatly. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 21, 2008 at 10:00 a.m., at St. Francis of the Hill Anglican Church, 6280 Los Robles, with Father Felix Orji officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on behalf of Katherine to: Susan G. Komen For The Cure, 1700 Murchison, Suite 207, El Paso, TX 79902 and Animal Rescue League of El Paso, 7256 La Junta Dr., El Paso, TX 79835. Bob - I'm glad to see you're planning a 50th reunion, and would like to come to it. I don't know if I have any great ideas for you on it, but would encourage attenders to bring pictures, yearbooks and other memorabilia. I am sorry to have lost my HHS student directory with the names of all my classmates, and hope someone may still have one. I would also invite any surviving teachers who may still be around. I know Bob Figge still is, and would probably be game for our reunion. I would also like to see something like a wikipedia of classmates, where we could each contribute what we might know about each other, if you think that would be appropriate. --Or at least some database of info in some form. I am looking forward to the reunion. I had a near death experience last June. I was in a crosswalk when a speeding car hit me. I had hit the windshield and I flew over the car. I sustained two broken legs, a broken hip and a broken collarbone. After one month in the hospital and two more months in a hospital bed in my dining room I now walk with difficulty. The good news is that I have had more adventures traveling in Vietnam and South America. I am grateful for my life and friends from the past who had a great influence on my life. Although I get to Albuquerque almost yearly, I have not seen much of the old high school or classmates since the 30th reunion. A trip is planned yet for this year--to attend my sister Donna's wedding. Would Sept 13-17 work as a tentative reunion time? Glad to hear you plan a 45th reunion. You guys did a terrific job with the 40th reunion so recommend something similar in 06. A Saturday morning tour of the school plus an afternoon football game would really fill the day followed by a dinner dance. I'll definitely be there unless a conflict arises. Since the dates are not yet set I would think fall would work best. Continue the good work and of course the more that attend the better the event for all. We all appreciate the time and effort you volunteers put into these gatherings. This slick web site is a great idea.
