I remember Jim fondly. He used to come to my home with Alan Brown and he, my sister and I rolled up the rugs and danced. He was a great friend who died way too young. I'll never forget that big, friendly red-head.
I remember Jim doing the announcing over the PA system at Highland during home-room time. With a resonant voice and engaging style, he was a natural at announcing. I wouldn't have expected this in him, but it seems he really found his niche there. I will never forget his whole-hearted belly laugh.
Everyone seemed to like Jim Porter including myself. I remember him from the accelerated math classes that Mr. Slocum taught. He was one of the our very best students and Mr. Slocum would argue with him about Jim's expressed decision to by-pass college to go directly into broadcasting. I did not see Jim after HS so don't know for sure what he actually did. If someone knows, I would appreciate hearing about it. Jim was extremely multi-talented and always fun to be around.

Rest in peace, my friend!
